Antonio Reeves Arrives at 1,000 Focuses In the midst of Kentucky's Misfortune to LSU

Reeves now joins the exclusive ranks as the eighth player in Kentucky Basketball history to accumulate 1,000 points over two seasons. The leader in this category remains Cliff Hagan with 1,213 points from 1949-51.

Currently standing at 1,001 points with five regular-season games and the postseason ahead, Reeves has the opportunity to climb the ranks further, particularly if Kentucky embarks on a postseason run. He marks the sixth 1,000-point scorer in the John Calipari era.

Patrick Patterson (3 seasons): 1,564 points

Darius Miller (4 seasons): 1,248 points

Oscar Tshiebwe (2 seasons): 1,117 points

Terrence Jones (2 seasons): 1,064 points

Doron Lamb (2 seasons): 1,018 points

Antonio Reeves (2 seasons): 1,001 points

During his call-in show on Monday, Coach John Calipari acknowledged the rarity of having 1,000-point scorers due to the trend of players leaving for the NBA early.

Calipari emphasized Reeves' dedication, highlighting his proficiency as a three-level scorer and his commitment to all aspects of the game, including defense and rebounding.

"I will tell you, I left the gym today and he's in there with Robert [Dillingham], Antonio is," Calipari mentioned. "This kid lives in the gym. He has made himself a three-level scorer — the three, the midrange, the layup.

At the rim, reverses, the whole package. What about, he's defending? What about his rebounding? He's made himself a complete player.

You're talking about All-American numbers, Player of the Year numbers. If we can keep going and get better, that's all present for him. That's why winning matters."

Despite the loss, Reeves' achievement deserves applause. He and Rob Dillingham were the sole Wildcats to reach double figures, scoring 25 and 23 points, respectively.
